Memories from Cousin Finley

"I'm saved, I'm save, I'm a Christian" - these are words Marie kept telling Greta and me. Of course we had no idea what that meant. Saved? Saved from what? Marie and Edna were the ones who invited Greta and I to BACBC back in 1969. Marie was fun loving - but also people loved having fun with her! Jokes were perpetrated, but all in good fun. Most memorable? Marie loved jewelry, esp. jade. My father told her one day that he had several pieces of fine jade to show her. She was super excited and my dad told her to hold out her hand. He then went on to drop several of his recent teeth extractions into the palm of her hand! Marie's nickname is "Myrrh" and one Christmas she gave the girl cousins bottles of Frankincense and Myrrh. To this day, I still have that bottle and bring it out every Christmas when I tell the Christmas story. Along with my dad's "jade" story, everybody seems to remember Marie's "knack" for buying children's clothes. Come on, PJs for all the nephews when the pants reach the boys' chins! As Andrea put it, pick the size and lower by 2 sizes (at least). I think when she became "Grammy" to Maggie and Stella, she finally learned how to size them up! During special occasions, all the aunties would go to her to have their hair styled. Marie would "tease up" the hair, style and spray it down - aunties loved it because it was FREE! Love, Finley
